If You Put A Cotton Ball With VapoRub In Your Ear All Night, Here’s The Surprising Effect.

Ahh, that familiar scent of menthol and eucalyptus. I am referring to Vicks Vaporub, of course. When I was a kid, my mom used to rub some of that thick ointment on my chest when I was congested. It helps clear the nasal, throat and even your head congestion. Did you know that Vicks has been around for more than 100 years?

Did you know it does more than just relieve congestion? It can! Read on and find out what other things you can use Vicks for.

Chest congestion

This by far is the most common use for Vicks, just apply to your upper chest and breathe freely!

Liquid Vicks can be put on some special humidifiers and vaporizers that have an aromatherapy compartment. As the humidifier works, the Vicks is circulated around your room so you can sleep peacefully.

Muscle aches

Just like all the other over the counter creams, Vicks can help relax your muscles. Just rub Vicks on your sore spots, wrap them in a warm towel and feel the soreness evaporate!

Earache relief

For temporary relief, put some Vicks on a cotton ball and set it in your ear. Don’t push it in too far! If the pain continues, you should see a doctor.

Nasty Toenail Fungus

Over time (we are talking months), Vicks can combat toenail fungus. Just rub some on the infected toes a few times a day.

Cracked Heels

Just in time for spring! Rub Vicks on your heels at night then put on some socks. The next morning, wash and exfoliate! Your feet will look fabulous in flip-flops!

No more bugs

Bugs don’t like the smell, so just dab a little on your clothes or skin to enjoy the outdoors!

Pet control

Cats don’t like the smell of Vicks either! So, if you have furniture that is being used as a scratching post, just smear some Vicks there to stop the behavior! Dogs don’t like the smell of Vicks either. So, if you have some marking issues or a not-so-potty-trained dog. Put some Vicks in their favorite spot to prevent them from using it!

Headaches no more

Rubbing Vicks on your forehead and temples can help your headache. The aroma of menthol helps release the pressure causing your pain.

Infection prevention

Small paper cuts or splinters can heal faster with a small dab of Vicks.

Ticks and Bugs

They don’t like Vicks at all. If you see a tick on you – put some Vicks on it ASAP. The smell might help the tick let go of you!

Bruise control

Even a thin layer of Vicks mixed with salt will help bruises heal faster!
